| Posted: | | | | Yeah, I already have some Atmos BD's which only have 5.1 channels although most of the Atmos BD's are 7.1. To be more precise I have to quote the Wiki "Dolby Atmos home theaters can be built upon traditional 5.1 and 7.1 layouts. For Dolby Atmos, the nomenclature differs slightly: a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos system is a traditional 7.1 layout with four overhead or Dolby Atmos enabled speakers."
So instead of 7.1 or 5.1 we could add 7.1.4 as well.

| Posted: | | | | I think when you say an Atmos track is 7.1 or 5.1, you're talking about the embedded TrueHD "core" track. An Atmos mix is channel independent. 7.1.4 or 5.1.2 refer to the number of speakers in the playback system. It has nothing to with the Atmos mix itself. |
