| Posted: | | | | Hey, Sorry if this shouldn't be here, wasn't sure where else to put it. Been looking around and haven't really seen anything, but thought I'd ask (might've missed it). Don't really use too many plugins, and was wondering if there was a plugin that someone may have developed that would tell you if a profile was missing crew. Like, if you wanted to find profiles in your collection that haven't been updated in awhile and don't have full crew credits, you could search for missing costume designer or makeup artist or something? I can obviously search through my collection manually, it just gets a little tedious. Thanks! | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

Is it something like this that you are looking for? If nobody else comes up with a solution I could probably whip up a tool like this in a week or less. That would actually be exactly what I was looking for/wondering about. With a collection of just about 4000, it just gets a little annoying having to search through every one, one by one to find which ones haven't been updated in awhile (I was looking yesterday and profiles I would've just assumed would've been updated are sitting with IMDB mined crew data from like, 2007 ) and I just want to get my collection up-to-date as possible. I in absolutely NO WAY would want to put you out though! I was just wondering if one already existed. I wouldn't want anyone to go to any trouble!!!! | | | The night is calling. | Posted: | | | | Nah, a bit of intellectual challenge is good to keep the brain from going stale. Actually, much of the work in parsing the data is already done since I can reuse the work I did for ProfilerQuery.
There are two issues that need to be decided: 1. Which profiles to exclude. Boxset parents (except Combos) should hold no crew, so they should be excluded in order to not show a lot of meaningless hits. Anything else? Perhaps exclude all profiles that have no crew at all? I don't know about you, but I've got a lot of TV shows that have no crew listed.
2. How to present the result. Would just a list with collection number and title be sufficient?
I guess I can start with something relatively simple and we can tweak it as needed. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

I guess I can start with something relatively simple and we can tweak it as needed. You sir, are a true gentleman!!! I honestly wasn't hoping or expecting anyone to go to any extra work, I just thought if something existed it would be useful, so the fact that you're willing to do something like that is amazing! I hope some others can get some use out of it as well when looking for profiles that may need updating in their collections! In regards to your questions: 1. Definitely exclude Boxset parents as there shouldn't be any crew in them (got a couple of those I still need to update haha). In regards to the second point of no crew, I found one going through my collection yesterday that had zero crew and I never would've figured it would have a blank crew section. So keeping in no crew might be a good thing? I too have TV shows with no crew listed (mostly animated stuff), but I would like to be able to go through and update them at one point as well (and then that data could always be shared). BUT, you're the one taking the time to do it, so whatever is easiest and most convenient for yourself!!!! 2. Absolutely that would be sufficient. Nothing needs to be fancy. BTW, your ProfilerQuery plugin is really about the only one I still use to this day, and it's friggin' awesome! Just wanted to say thanks for that one!!! | | | The night is calling. | Posted: | | | | It seems to me that it would probably be more efficient to use ProfilerQuery to find profiles with no crew at all (Number of crew = 0), since ProfilerQuery offers more filtering possibilities. That said, I'll probably just make it an option in this program. I don't know if you have looked at ProfilerMissing. Anyway, when I ran that against my own collection, the sheer number of missing things were so overwhelming that it became virtually useless. So I think it is probably a good thing to try to keep the result as relevant - and as manageable - as possible. As for extra work, well, as a retired software developer I find it stimulating to still be able to develop software that someone else finds useful. I wouldn't offer to do it if I though it was a chore. I just do it at my own pace as a hobby nowadays. Watch this space for updates on the progress... | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. | Posted: | | | | Version 1.0.0Clicking Copy! in the result window will give you a tab separated list in the clipboard. A list that you can paste into a spreadsheet so you can sort it or do whatever you need with it. Print it, perhaps. Some of those crew roles will be less useful than others, I assume. Checking your entire collection for titles missing a Creature Design credit will probably result in a rather long list (unless you have a very narrow taste in movies ). Feel free to suggest enhancements! | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | My jaw has hit the floor in awe of your kindness AND quickness!!!!!!!! Seriously, what an amazingly kind thing to do for someone who was just inquiring. You're awesome!!! Can I ask one seriously rookie question? How do I actually get it to work with Profiler? lol I download the zip file (I tried while Profiler was both open and closed) and then I go to my program files, the DVDProfiler folder, in which there is a Plugins folder there. I put the zip folder in there, unzip it. It creates a new folder. I go into the folder and click the .exe file and it opens and looks awesome, but it won't allow me to run it, and it doesn't appear in the Tools menu in Profiler (I don't know if it should or not, just my other plugins are there, and it's been so long I don't remember how I ran them to begin with). It just opens the window you've created, but when I go to specific and search, it won't allow me to run. Why am I dumb and don't know how to do this?? | | | The night is calling. | Posted: | | | | Quoting GSyren: Quote: It works just like ProfilerQuery, i.e. you load an exported xml file. I guess I should have mentioned that. Got it! Thank-you again! This'll make it much easier to look through my collection to see what still needs to be updated! So so so appreciated!!!!!!!! | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

| Posted: | | | | By the way here's a tip: You can use ProfilerQuery in conjunction with this program to get better results.
Let say that you find that you get too many hits in documentary features, and want to exclude them. Here's how: 1. Run a ProfilerQuery query against your total collection and set a selection to exclude genre documentary. 2. Use Save flag set (or Save flag set as...) in ProfilerQuery. 3. Load that flag set in DVD Profiler. 4. Export flagged entries to xml. 5. Load that xml file into ProfilerMissingCrew, and voila! no hits on documentaries.
And that is of course just one example of how you can use these programs together. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | Well, I could have chosen a better example. You don't need ProfilerQuery to exclude a genre. You can do that using the built-in filters in DVD Profiler. But the example does illustrate the principle for how you can use the ProfilerQuery for more advanced filtering than DVD Profiler offers. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | Just wanted to say thanks again! Already submitted a bunch of profiles to be updated with full crew! Some that even with searching manually through my collection I had missed. This helps a great deal with things like common names, missing color fields etc. as I usually go through the whole disc when updating. This has been a massive help and I'm extremely appreciative!!! | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |
