I have been wondering if I am the only one in the world who hates Mystery Science Theater 3000. I did a little search and I found that there are indeed a few others who feel the same, even if we seem to be in a very small minority. I found this post in the TV Terrors section of Classic Horrors Film Board:

I really love b-movies in their original form, and in even the most amateurish hack-job I always find a few moments where a real frisson is created which transcends the constraints of budget, talent, etc. Moreover, it takes a lot of effort to make any movie, and to get it playtime (especially so in the case of low-budget independents, which have frequently been the prime target of MST3K episodes); to simply reduce all that effort to being the butt of a series of jokes just rubs me up the wrong way...

In short, the show therefore breaks all the following 'movie-viewing rules' in my house:
1) don't chatter during the movie!
2) don't tell me when to laugh!
3) don't efface the efforts of some of my favorite filmmakers!
4) don't get in the way of the picture!
5) don't rip a film out of its historical context in order to wilfully misinterpret it!

Watching MST3K would leave me riled rather than entertained, no matter how many 'movie-fan references' they might throw in in an attempt to 'soften the blow'.

That pretty much describes my feelings about MST3K as well.
Now I'm curious if there is any one here on this forum that feels the same.

Then you should probably avoid them.

As you imply, most people would rather have their boredom frequently interrupted by the audience commentary, but a few people love bad films and don't appreciate others mocking them. So while you find MST3K unwatchable, I find most of their films unwatchable without the distractions.

Never understood the point of them, but then I dont understand the point of Pewdiepie either...

Watching MST3K (which I loved) actually made me go back and watch a couple of the movies in full because they looked cheesily interesting but I could not get enough from them because of the commentary.

Joel is running everything, but, new host (Joel is too old now I guess), new voices for bots, no Mike, no Trace, no Mary Jo, no Kevin Murphy. Likely not going to be on television but on a streaming service (Netflix, Amazon, etc.) or if not that then straight Internet downloads (hope it doesn't come to that).

My understanding is Jim Mallon sold full rights to Shout! Factory who said they would fully support a reboot if Joel could raise the money for it, which he did, on Kickstarter, enough for at least 12 episodes, likely to be 13 or 14.
