| Posted: | | | | Every time I sync my android with my desktop it takes forever as it overwrites the entire old database with the entire new database. Which makes me think I am doing something wrong... maybe missing a function. As I would expect it to do like when you update your online collection. Compare the two and only pull the changes.
So is it something I am doing wrong? Or does it really have to overwrite the entire database for every sync? | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | It should not do that. Android sync takes just about 30 seconds on my database if done every day. If you're not already on the Beta, join that. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

| Posted: | | | | This has something to do with your re-numbering preferences.
Since you renumber your collection by alpha with every new addition this means that when adding a title (with e.g. A) all titles after this new addition get flagged as"changed" (i.e. new collection number), which results in: they all need to be re-synced.
EDIT: I don't know by which algorhythm DVDProfiler handles changes for a specific profile. But the in your case worst scenario would be: Collection# 1 got changed Detected differences to existing #1 -> Entire Profile | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | That would cause it. In that case it's not a full sync (cast/crew is cached and not resent), but it still will take some time. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

| Posted: | | | | But when I synch it does everything.... including images.
Edit: as in each step takes a long time... including images.... took over an hour for the images alone. | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |

| Posted: | | | | If you sync, do no changes, and sync again, does it still take the full time? | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

| Posted: | | | | Oddly no... but seems like if there is any change at all then it takes the full time. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | It seems to be working as expected now. Seems like the only time it took extra long was the first time after the latest desktop beta. Not sure what you did but seemed to fix multiple sync problems for me. | | | Pete |
