| Posted: | | | | I think that we need to renew Features & Formats window and change/add few options. Nowadays there is unnecessary information what can easily be seen in other selections: 1) Full Frame and Widescreen checkbox selections => both of these can already be seen on Aspect Ratio selection. Therefore those two options should be removed. - Full Frame in golden days was 1.33:1, but nowadays it refers to 1.78:1 - I think that all of us can see, without checkbox, if picture is widescreen. 2) 2D checkbox selection for all releases. Unnecessary info and selection for all non 3D releases. This should be available only if 3D option is selected, then is shows if 3D release includes 2D version also. That new Dimensions is something what seems that there is something wrong in that phrase. It can be removed totally and implement data under Video Format. After removing Full Frame and Widescreen checkboxes we can add new Windowboxed option. Rename 16x9 Enhanced to Anamorphic, which seems more correct phrase, and make it selectable like others in same category. Color Format changed to checkbox selections instead of dropdown list. Add second Aspect Ratio option which can be set only if relevant checkbox is selected. And finally to make more room for higher Formats window, by changing shape of Other Features Here is sample image how above changes can be implemented: Phew, that's all. Now you can start my torture and execution. |

| Posted: | | | | if you have checkboxes for colour/B&W/Colourised then you don't need Mixed (you just tick more than one box) | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | Yes... you still need mixed. You don't need Multiple. But mixed is for a single film with both b&W and Color... think something like Wizard of Oz.
Checking both b&W and Color gives the impression there is 2 versions of the movie on the disc. Where Mixed tells us both B&W and Color is in the same film. | | | Pete |

Everyone else is bowing down to your ideas, so I guess that I will go first! *grabs a stick and starts poking* But seriously, it would be nice to get rid of the "Full Frame equals 1.33:1", which would then require all of those entries to be entered rather than assumed.** (Something screwy happens with a basic filter set that I use which is supposed to only display "Full Screen" profiles but ends up also including any entry that has no Video Format data entered at all. ** Ignore what I said here. For clarification as to why, read this post instead. | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

| Posted: | | | | At the same time I wouldn't want to loose the ability to have the 1.33:1 choice to be used for those releases. I don't like the idea of assuming anything. All the right info for the profile should be input. | | | Pete |

If you have a 4:3 image you have to enter 1.33:1 according to JaLe's proposal. And if you have a dual-sided disc with widescreen and formerly-known-as-full-frame, he thought of that, too. Now you have two aspect ratio text boxes. One question though: What exactly is "windowboxed"? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

One question though: What exactly is "windowboxed"? Question I have... and not saying I am against it... at least not till I understand completely ... what is the reason for loosing the Full Framed checkbox? I mean I collect a lot of older TV series that are Full Framed 1:33.1 So what would be entered for those? Just the aspect ratio? | | | Pete |

It was based on this reasoning: Quoting JaLe: Quote: - Full Frame in golden days was 1.33:1, but nowadays it refers to 1.78:1 ... although I don't agree with this. I've never knowingly heard anyone say this before. . . and certainly not as the new standard. I still think 4:3 when I hear "Full Frame." But, that could just be me. | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

| Posted: | | | | Just a minor thing: As the (Video) Formats stay on top, could this window be named "Formats & Features" instead of "Features & Formats"? |

I think the reasoning behind is that Full Frame is the name of one specific aspect ratio. The question is why should it warrant a checkbox when all other aspect ratios are to be entered as actual numbers? It's like saying we enter all the audio tracks in a drop down, but we have a special checkbox if the audio track is english... | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online
