| Posted: | | | | Because there is no way, that I know of, to ensure that a Disc ID isn't made up, other than having it read by the program, I don't see this happening. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. If you have the disc and a drive, you just have to use the disc ID read by the program (Menu DVD>change UPC>Use disc ID from insertd disc). If you have the disc, but no drive, and no profile on the online with that ID, you cannot know what is the disc ID, so even if it was possible to enter it manually, you just do not have the information. If you have a corresponding profile with an ID in the online and want to keep your own profile, just download it, then copy your manual profile to the one you downloaded (except disc information) then delete your manual profile. | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

I have a blu-ray of a title and don't have a blu-ray drive in my computer. Someone contributes the disc ID's for the parent profile box set contents, but no one makes a child profile using the ID's. |

| Posted: | | | | Not sure why someone would upload boxset content and not upload the child profiles that the boxset content is pointing to. Just don't make sense to me.
Over all... sounds like something that screams abuse to me. People will be using disc ids from profiles from other versions that are completely different from what they got. Defeating the purpose of Ken collecting the disc id's for each release as it would be unreliable if the disc IDs are for that release or not.
Just don't sound like a very good idea to me personally. | | | Pete |

OK, I had not seen this case, probably because I do not have any boxset in my collection. I agree with you that it would be better for contribution to have this request accepted. | | | Images from movies |

BulkEdit adds amongst other things the function "Clone Children from DiscIDs" to Collection -> Flagged which will do exactly this. Also very nice for TV-Series when you want to create Disc-Level-Profiles. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

You can chose to use a DiscID. It will force the correct DVDP format ("I" followed by 16 hex digits), but it will not check to see if the DiscID is associated with an actual retail disc. | | | Thanks for your support. Apparently some box set profiles have been incorrectly created with discs in the parent profile instead of profiles, hence Mithi's comment, which refers to a feature I put into BulkEdit quite a while back, per request, to help fix this very problem. | | | Thanks for your support. Yes, but those are the disc ID's stored under the 'Discs' section of the edit screen, which are different from ones stored in the 'Box Set Contents' section. The only way to add anything to the 'Box Set Contents' section, which is what Orici is talking about, is if there is a profile that can be selected and 'Assigned'. As I understand it, BulkEdit can create manual Disc ID profiles from the contents of the Disc ID section, and those profiles can then be added to the Box Set Contents. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Heh heh, well I kinda understand BulkEdit as well ... In fact BulkEdit builds the child profiles for you from the parent Disc IDs automatically and includes them in the box set. BulkEdit also adds an option to Collection\Flagged menu to delete discs from parent profiles. The options you get for the clone process are very similar to the Invelos profile copy / paste, so you can selectively include / omit information from the parent profile into the resulting child profiles. (Edit: Just checked it - still works.) Are we on the same page now? And BTW the original poster has yet to comment on any of this, so he has likely long since solved the issue or doesn't care any more, so maybe we just let this rest ... | | | Thanks for your support. Are we on the same page now? Almost...I missed the fact that it automatically added the newly created child profiles to the Box Set Contents, but the fact remains, the child profiles have to be created first. There is no way, at least none that I can find, to add a Disc ID to the Box Set Contents without them being the identifier of a profile. That being the case, if there are Disc IDs in the Box Set Contents, there has to be a child profile somewhere. That's all I was trying to say. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
