| Posted: | | | | Right now, we can filter by crew members, but not by jobs. If I filter by Steven Spielberg, I can see he has 30 listing. He only directed 16 of these, but the only way to find this out is to manually count. I would like a way to filter by role as well. |

| Posted: | | | | Even if I wouldn't use it very often but an option for a additional filter would be nice. So you could search: name -> all movies show up where >name< is credited name + category -> just movies where >name< is listed as >category< Database Query is a good idea, Skip. Never tried it, but as I read there are really namy possibilities to search. | | | Last edited: by VirusPil |

| Posted: | | | | Indeed, Database Query will basically do what you want:
Panel "Crew" --> Field "Name", Query "Person search", find the person by clicking on the little spyglass and finally hit "Run Query". A click on the "Role" column title sorts the list...
I'd prefer a built-in way, though. Would be much faster... | | | 1.0.1, iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.1.0

Probably wouldn't use it much either, but I can see how it would be a useful feature. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I know this is going to sound silly. But were i the programmer and I have a Plug-In developed that will do this work, yet someone requests that I do it, I don't think it would rank real high on my list of work to do for the program, I mean there is a Plug-In and it will do the job, why do I need to worry about it very much. Isn't this part of the reason for Plug-Ins? If I have to do it anyway, then we don't need Plug-In capability do we. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | You're right Skip, that is the reason for plugins - To add functionality that isn't natively in the program.
However, sometimes the software developer might like the plugin features enough to add them into the software. There is a benefit to doing that as it can free up resources taken up loading the necessary DLL file. |

Skip You're concerned that I think Ken is a good programmer and might actually add functionality, found in a plug-in, to his program in order to make it better? That seems like an odd thing to be concerned about. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I think you know what my concerns are, Ken has been reducing functionality and usability for awhile now. And that certainly is not a concern. your comment just verified my concerns.

| Posted: | | | | IMHO, Ken has been dramatically ramping up functionality, usability and performance. No need to repeat the long list here. As for plugins, in 3.6, he obsoleted two of my plugins: MyTabs and DVDeMail, and added similar functionality for parts of two others (UPC import of BulkEdit and YouTube Trailer Player of LoadDVD Pro). At the same time, he added requested functions that will allow me to improve the others. I suspect that this will continue, and it clears the decks for me to play with new ideas.
But my view is not from the persepctive of the database, rules and contributions.
I think I can see how from that perspective, more contraints are being imposed and compromises being made to keep an increasingly complex data model under control. Could it just be the nature of the beast? Maybe my view is naive. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!!
