| Posted: | | | | can you email the company and describe the same thing,? , maybe it is the device manager section of your control panel that is not turned on or setup .., . | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

| Posted: | | | | do you have a keyboard connected to it as well? The PS/2 scanners generally need to be plugged in between a keyboard and the computer

| Posted: | | | | If all else fails, there are USB versions on eBay for generally less than $10 the last time I looked, even a store dedicated to the devices. They are already declawed and will work fine in DVDP (I have one) |

| Posted: | | | | those arent the greatest answers or what I was expecting. I was going to say forget it, since I used the other one an it worked for some reason. What company? They dont exsist any more. I do but there both the same an I didnt declaw the thing or anything like that which is wierd. e-bay is full of scammers usually you could find it for cheap else where but I did try an usb adapter an that didnt work ether with it. |

| Posted: | | | | Try running the scanner using Notepad. If it enters the UPC without a line feed at the end (same as the RETURN key), it should work in DVDP. The CueCat Store (on ebay), selling for $7.77. |

| Posted: | | | | when you plug in the ps2 ( 9 pin jack right?),, does your PC recognise that something just got plugged in? ( slight sound-noise/ or device-box opening in task bar?
does it show in your device section (off the control panel/system - as a 'yellow exclamation' or no exclamation.. at all? yellow means you need drivers.,. also check the 'my computer/right click/,manage - then check to see if something maybe turned off to receive this ps2 device ..
most new cue cats are USB (1.0 /2.0 ) and hardly ever need drivers . | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Is the other one you refer to a USB scanner or a PS/2 scanner. Like I said a PS/2 scanner, known as a keyboard wedge because it connects between the computer and keyboard, requires (their may be some exceptions out there) that a keyboard also be connected to it. Just using a usb adapter isn't going to be enough (you would still need the keyboard connected) If your other one is PS/2 and works without a keyboard (I would than say it's one of those rare exceptions) perhaps this one is dead. -Agrare |

| Posted: | | | | Noticed that I had a peiece that was on the cat but that shouldnt really affect it. the one that works gave me some random numbers off the dvd useing notepad, went over it with the other one like eight or so times an nothing showed. No, they just light up. Mine is an older model hence ps/2. Its the same kind, I have a ps/2 adapter which I had tried. Thinking it may just be the cable to it, which would help in ruleing out if its the circuit or the cable. |

| Posted: | | | | The one that works isn't neutered, the CueCat by default encrypts the UPC and outputs the encrypted results. |

| Posted: | | | | This information might be helpful. It describes in brief how the Catnip software was originally keyed to the developer's website, which is now out of commission. It then suggests ways around that hurdle.
