| Posted: | | | | I often loan DVDs to custumers and same times give them direct to another guy. First I select "personal", then loan status "loaned out" and "return from xxx". After I klicked this, the DVD was removed form the view. Thats correct, because it's now not loaned out anymore. But now I have to remove the filter, search for the disc and change the loan status again. It would be very helpfull if it is possible to direct loan a loaned out DVD to another customer.

That carries with it an implication. This program is not designed for commercial usage, it is a personal collection management program, not a rental program.

| Posted: | | | | I only use the words which are used in dvd profiler "loan to custom..." I often loan dvd's to friends and teammates and have three profiler full registration, so I must be a commerical guy? Strange - please let use discuss technical. dvd profiler has a build in rental funktion and this does not fullfill my requirements!

I assume that the confusion has come from the fact that English is not your primary language.
A "Customer" is somebody that pays you for something.
"Custom" in the loaning system refers to the fact that you can load to somebody that is not pre-defined in you list of users. I.e. you can "Customise" who you have lent to.
Your usage, in fairness to Skip , did indicate the former usage.

Sure, but in fairness to Mike, whether he's loaning the DVDs to friends or renting them to customers has absolutely nothing to do with his request: To be able to change the person a DVD is loaned to, without first having to mark it as returned. This is a feature I would use too, although I don't really mind the extra step of marking it returned first before being able to set it as loaned to a new lender. | Posted: | | | | Not to "open a can of worms," but could somebody point me to where use of Profiler is prohibited in a rental business? I couldn't find that language in the License Agreement. I don't have such a business, by the way, but I've seen the issue raised a number of times, but never once any statement by Invelos or documentation to back it up. If there is such a statement, perhaps in the future it would be easy and non-intimidating to simply point a new user to it, or maybe add it to the FAQ or knowledgebase. | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | It's not prohibited. It just wouldn't work well for that purpose and trying to make it more useful for that purpose isn't a development priority. |

Ok, that's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed something. When I put stuff into my plugins, I do like to have an understanding of the big picture, so my question had a selfish motive. Although I'm sure that if I really broke some rule with my code, Ken would take some action - probably privately, and I would comply immediately because that is what I agreed to do. Hi, that would be the easy step, but my intention was a little bit differrent. If you type in the DVD name, mark it as returned and then loan again it all works easy, but I have to type in the DVDs name. So I use a different way. I select a view (found under personal) with status "loaned out". Now it is easy, just two clicks, select the DVD and then returned. No typing of the dvd name necessary. Because I have a special view (loaned out) activ the dvd I marked as returned was directly removed from the list and I can not click "loan". I have to remove the view (filter), type in the dvd name and then loan. For me it would be nice and helpfull if I can use the "loan to" funktion for a loaned out dvd. Internally dvd profiler must first mark it at returned and then loaned out to the new user. regards mike ps Thanx Astrakan for the explanation custom/customer. |
