I would like a DVD Profiler Agent sitting in the system tray [optional].
It should be small in byte size.
Clicking once on the DVD Profiler Agent icon shows a menu with options to add the disc currently in the DVD player (e.g. computer). It should register the disc id's to a list and when the user opens DVD Profiler, DVD Profiler asks (maybe with the push of a button) to add/update the owned list with those disc id's from the DVD Profiler Agent (maybe a checkbox enabled list). It should also be possible to set watched date on a disc id from within the DVD Profiler Agent, for any given user (users taken from DVD Profiler).

If watched date is set on a dics id in the DVD Profiler Agent and it already exist in DVD Profiler and in:
  • a UPC profile then DVD Profiler updates the UPC profile with watched date from DVD Profiler Agent or even better... ask the user if he/she like DVD Profiler to create a new disc id profile and perhaps also give option to even remove the disc id from the UPC profile disc id list.

  • a disc id profile then DVD Profiler updates the disc id profile with watched date from DVD Profiler Agent.

  • What do you think?

Even though I like DVDProfiler very much, I don't like programs that write themselves into the autostart.
EDIT: After changing the request to a "minimize to tray" I agree with the proposal.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I have to admit I don't see much of a need for it. Maybe it would be better to have an option to minimize Profiler to system tray with a small number of commands available from there without having to maximize again.
Personally I'd much rather see a mini web version of Profiler where you could maybe do that sort of stuff on PCs that don't have Profiler installed.

I would very much welcome the ability to minimize Profiler to the system tray. I have it running pretty much always, and it would be nice to keep it out of the way when not used. I know there are utilities that can let you do that, but I'd rather have it built into Profiler itself. I have actually made this request once before.

I don't care too much for the other functions mentioned, but as long as they're configurable I don't mind.

I have been thinking about this some more...
Imagine if you will... you receive a new TV-series in the mail and you want to watch it ASAP
What you don't want to do is spend any time with DVD Profiler, dealing with its Add DVD process for say 15 discs using WMC on autostart when a DVD is inserted into the DVD tray.

Here is where I think this third application, DVD Profiler Agent, would become handy.

So, you fire up DVD Profiler and go to Options and enable the DVD Profiler Agent (maybe even set if it should start up on windows startup next time windows starts up).
You close DVD Profiler and slip in a DVD into the DVD tray, WMC fires up in window mode (or whatever Player you have), the watching starts
Sometime, while the disc is in the tray, You do a right click on the DVD Profiler Agent icon in the system tray and select add disc, another right click and set watched for the disc previously added.
Then, You watch the next disc in the set

Minimize DVD Profiler to the system tray would probably be a good start if the thought of an DVD Profiler Agent is out.
