| Posted: | | | | Don't know if this has been addressed in the past here at his Features Forum.., BUT: WHY is IT that when Invleos has countless same title DVD's but each of the countless same title all have separate UPC or ID disc info, there fore all have differant uploaded information to database. .. Trouble with this is.. say a title such as V for Vendetta that is currently being taken apart over at Contributions , WHY is it if that title has an update for say the crew or the cast or the running time or the year it was produced or CoO etc etc etc etc,, why can't ALL the same title same DVD release get all the updates at once????????????????????? (locality and region only) .
Seems like a simple enough request.. There are countless BIG titles coming on board everyday such as the new INDY IV movie.., and I'm sure if one of those disc release has a name change or the running time gets added by a minute I say all the New Indiana Jones IV get attention to this in that one region or locality . | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | I remember a very similar suggestion like this before. Something along the lines of separating the profile into two parts: one for the DVD info, another for the film info. And any new DVD that came along for the same film would simply link to the same film info, so any updates would affect all relevant profiles. Of course you'd still need the ability to overwrite the info, just in case of any regional variations, but I can't see why it wouldn't work. And it does seem wasteful to store god knows how many versions of the same information! |

| Posted: | | | | It's a good idea in theory but I have a few thoughts about it. Each profile would need to be matched manually (at Ken's end I'd say) as in some cases films can have updated credits from other releases. For example the original Star Wars Trilogy & the 97 updates which would add the new people to the credits & amend the run time. So just because a film has the same title it wouldn't necessarily be included in those updates. On top of that you've got films that have the same title but are different versions. For example Sunshine (2007) Sunshine(1999). Those are just two concerns that spring to mind. Of course if there was any "safe" way to implement it then of course it would make things quicker to correct errors & the like. | | | Last edited: by Ardos |

| Posted: | | | | Seems like a good idea, but reality shows that the credits may differ from one DVD-release (and/or edition) to another, not to forget from one location to another. So these "one for all"-updates should be for the absloute basics only. Even then I'm not sure that a contribution will pass, with all users owning a copy of this title being able to vote on it. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

That information is already part of the Profile, Forget. How many times does it need to be entered? Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | I was just using those as examples, there may be others that aren't. Or it could be if we find someone who has been missed off or misspelled, etc... |

| Posted: | | | | We already have a system that works like this, and it is capable of handling exceptions too. Yes, I'm talking about the online links! I'm sure it could be extended to movie info as well... | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |
