| Posted: | | | | Since i have a collection of over 1000 laserdiscs (many titles not yet availables on dvd), i was wondering if it could be possible to add support for Laserdiscs, even with a plugin or something similar ... | | | I can resist everything but temptation. |

| Posted: | | | | You already can add them as a "manual profile" to your local collection, but they can't be contributed to the online database. |

| Posted: | | | | I know i can add it, but the dvdprofiler mask just doesn't mach. Ex. it don't let me deselect dvd as a kind of media. As a result i have a bunch of options useless for Laserdiscs. Maybe a littel plugin with a "free" media other than dvd, blu-ray or hd-dvd will help ... | | | I can resist everything but temptation. |

| Posted: | | | | I think the idea of having an "Other" media option for manual profiles has been suggested before and I think it's still a good idea. I'm not sure what options would need to be changed to cater for laserdiscs specifically though. Would it not be enough simply to have a different media option? What other information in the profile would need to change? |

| Posted: | | | | The fact that many options in the program do not apply to Laserdiscs can't be helped - the same would apply to e.g. VHS tapes. Adding an "Other" media option would not change this. The program was designed to deal with DVDs (hence its name), not other media.
Using the Tag feature could help you first of all to be able to select all Laserdiscs in your collection, and secondly to set any specific option you'd like to use for them. |

| Posted: | | | | To be precise this is an EIGHT year old request, maybe 9. The short answer as far as Profiler is concerned is this is DVDProfiler, NOT LaserProfiler, TapeProfiler or for those that may have a few FilmProfiler. Of course, there are ways for it to be made to work, through the tag System abd so forth but such things are purely personal and NEVER Contributable. This question like so many other periodically recycles and is made by many new users...including this one...way back when.

I can understand that is not possible to make major changes to dvdprofiler to accept laserdiscs. I think a different media option will do. Tags alone will not do, imho, because if i want to select ex. all dvd's i'll have all the laserdiscs in the list too (assuming i have registered laserdiscs as dvd ... same thing for BD or hddvd). For the covers: digital camera and go .. or if you're too lazy take them from the laserdisc database on the web here | | | I can resist everything but temptation. | | | Last edited: by locutus2k |

I think you're wrong here. What you could do is tag your laserdiscs as "laserdisc" and your "real" DVDs as DVD. Then you can select either of the two groups. Tags work independently from the programs own identification of profiles as either DVD, Blue Ray or HD DVD, that's the point here. So I think you might find there's more you can do with tags than you might think! |
