| Posted: | | | | Does anyone know if there exists a R2 release of Die Hard 3 uncut? I've got the 2 Disc Special Edition UK release rated 15, and that one is cut It's probably cut so it can be given the 15 rating, but it seems stupid since both Die Hard and Die Hard 2 is rated 18. | | | Berak

| Posted: | | | | If you want another UK release, try the 2 Disc Collector's Edition, it's supposed to be uncut, although I'm not sure. Also, both German DVD releases (Regular and Special Edition) are uncut. So are - supposedly - the Italian, Japanese, Spanish and French releases. Apparently, the UK was the only country that felt the need to trim down the R-rated version even further.... And I don't believe there's an Unrated US-Version | | | Lutz |

| Posted: | | | | You do realize he asked about Die Hard 3? And not the first two parts?
I was only referring to releases of Die Hard with a vengeance | | | Lutz | | | Last edited: by Darxon |

| Posted: | | | | There is no uncut version of Die Hard with a vengeance. The film had to be cut to achieve an R-rating. |

| Posted: | | | | So far I've managed to find out the following (tanks to W0m6at's link); The most cut version is actually the R2 Collector's Edition (UK) which is the one I own - Cuts were made to the exclusion of a number of 'F' words and cuts to the violent scenes. The least cut versions are; R1 Special Edition (US) R2 Collector's Edition (Denmark) R2 Collector's Edition (Germany) R4 (Australia) I hate censorship!!! | | | Berak

| Posted: | | | | Here at Wellington, there's a small store that mostly carries R2 UK releases; even though they have good prices, I've always found that in almost all cases, no matter how innocent the movie at hand may seem, they all are cut. They're always like 2-3 min. shorter than other releases. I'm not sure how strict the British rating boards/censors are, but some choices are borderline ridiculous. I replaced the 15 or so R2 releases I had with R1 and I've never looked back, unless a certain movie I want is not available on R1. Death to censorship, dun't you dare kut my moviez!!! | | | Funny, these cookies don't taste anything like Girl Scouts.

But that's why Rewind (www.dvdcompare.net) exists: to help you find the best release available, based on the spec of the disc and the cut status. | | | Gary

| Posted: | | | | Avoid all NTSC releases for Die Hard with a vengeance, the image is really horrible. No details and edge enhancement left nasty halos. Also, colors are way off.
Buy either the german (CE), danish (CE) or australian (CE) release. |

Living here in the States, it seems we often get the shortend of the dvd stick, esp. on horror and cult movies which are what I'm mostly into. Of course I'm region free so I do a lot of shopping over the net to get better dvds (feature-wise). There's also dvdbeaver.com which compares the image/sound quality. I've noticed dvdcompare will give one a disc a nod just due to having a DTS track while the picture might look like crap compared to other regions. Oh yeah, here's another site that converts PAL/NTSC runtimes. http://www.paradiso-design.net/index.html | | | Last edited: by bigdaddyhorse |
