This weeks issue of Entertainment Weekly has the fist look at the new bat suit. You can see it online.

I think it's pretty cool. I especially like the cowl, but I also like how it gives off the impression that it's made of fabric, but with bits of armour attached for protection. Seems to be a more realistic take on what a Bat suit might actually look like were someone to make one in real life.

Here's a side-by-side comparison with the last one:

Some things are just inviolate.  The look of Batman - "The Dark Knight" - is one.

Absolutely NO.

I like it. I've seen that page elsewhere and explained. Note that the head is able to do something very different to all previous Batman films: tilt and swivel!  Finally Bats has a normal neck! I know what you mean, Rifter, but at least in the comics, Batman could look around.

I think it looks good. More practical. In the same way the Batmobile looked like it was designed to do a job, rather than just look weird.

Rumours suggest the new suit is introduced as a plot element. Apparently the first one is discarded after an acid attack by The Joker.

That brings me onto another revisionist twist I like. Who would've thunk it, Heath Ledger looks mean:

it looks as if it's been designed to allow my flexibility, but i don't know why it's necessary to redesign everything from one movie to the next. before you know it, the dang thing will have nipples...oh, wait...

Geez, Bruce Wayne must have more money than God. The money he spends on tailoring and equipment. He's harder on his gear than 007. I don't who that is in that suit but it ain't Batman, I know what batman looks like and he doesn't wear a sculpted suit.

Skip, you and I are just too old.  My favorite Batman costume was the one from the comic books I read as a kid (many years after the series began, I must add).  I didn't think the suit in the TV series Adam West wore was right, either, but it was closer to what I pictured the guy wearing than the sculpted version of the film.

C'mon now guys. The 'old timers' not liking the new suit is like the 'kids' not liking the old movies (referencing the other thread)

....think about it.

Personally I like both the new suit and old movies

I don't mean I don't like the new suit, just that it isn't what I envision when I think of the "Real"  Batman.

I don't know - I'm reminded of the Tin Man in the Wizard of oz - Batman looks like he'll need to carry an oil can to lubricate it!
