Bloodrayne Unrated Director's cut: same UPC used as two disc and single disc edition? |

| Posted: | | | | Hi
I recently bought the Bloodrayne DVD from ebay, picture and upc code shown in the auction referred to the two disc version.
The DVD in my hands has the same UPC code 855280 001380 as the two dis version that has been contributed to DVD Profiler but my DVD with the same UPC code is only single disk. How can this be?
How can I contribute "my" single disc edition with the UPC code 855280 001380 (single disc) when there is already the same UPC code in the database but related to the two disc edition?
I thought UPC codes are pretty unique?
By the way, I filed a complaint about this and accused the seller of having used the wrong picture in the auction and asked for the missing game DVD or a refund and got flamed pretty badly by the seller.
He became very rude by stating that there are also single disc editions of this movie out there. But with the same UPC code, how can this be?
By the way, I also found a single disc unrated director's cut version with DVD profiler, but this one is a Canadian release with a completely different UPC code 776974 242295.
I inserted my Bloodrayne single disc dvd into the DVD-ROM drive and guess what? It is not recognized by DVD Profiler 3.0.3. I can add it manually to my collection. Does this mean that I am having a bootleg in my hands?
Best regards and hopefully someone knows a little bit more about this. | | | Last edited: by Bartman |

Best regards and hopefully someone knows a little bit more about this. There is only one version of the Unrated Dir. Cut for R1 far as I know, it is two disk, and the UPC is correct. I have it and bought it off the shelf at Walmart when it came out. If you bought this on eBay and it was shrink-wrapped you got one that got out of the factory missing a disc. If you bought it used, then you got stiffed by the seller. Bottom line, though, is that you can't contribute yours because it isn't the original release version. You could use the Canadian profile if you don't mind the UPC being off. | | | John

| Posted: | | | | It was not shirink wrapped and the artwork seems to be ok as far as I can tell. The cover is not so dark as in the cover scans provided to the two disc edition, though.
Could this be a bootleg then. But it is really strange that I can read the discs name and title on the inner ring quite clearly. I thought it was identical yet it seems to be a really strange case indeed. My DVD-ROM drive shows the DVD as UNDEFINED.
Oh well and the seller is accusing me of fraud because I wanted him to pay the 0.99 for the DVD only and not the 8.25 for the shipping because I suspected this to be a bootleg. The idea was better 0.99 lost than 9.24. This is why I asked him not to ship the DVD, but he never answered to my request. Well I know now why. The seller is really a very rude person. And he gives me full refund, I have to send back the DVD of course at my expense. | | | Last edited: by Bartman |

You can get a lot of great bargains on eBay but you have to be really careful and pay intense attention to the verbiage used in the ads, and the seller's feedback rating. I've purchased close to a hundred on eBay, and only had an issue with one which the seller promptly refunded. In the long run though, I've decided that unless its something that I just can't find through regular discount outlets, I won't buy any more from eBay - too stressful for a low dollar purchase. | | | John

| Posted: | | | | True, the seller feedback rating was 99.7 so I assumed it should be ok and the used picture and upc code referred to the two disc edition, I have checked this before I bid the 0.99 and unfortunately won that bid.
I generally agree with your comment, ebay is good for things you won't find anywhere else. Or shrink wrapped original products. The rest, well questionable.
The seller used a nasty trick to accuse me by the way. As I reported the SNAD dispute he quickly jumped into this, accused me of fraud and called me a disgrace to the entire human race and that I should be investigated and banned from ebay and paypal (this was all in his answer to my dispute) and escalated the dispute to a paypal claim at the same time by offering me a full refund if I return the item. Because of filing for a claim, I am now unable to conter his accusations. It stays there that I am a fraud and as proof he even copied the text of one of my mails where I asked to have the DVD not shipped to me.
I will not send the DVD back, because sending it back from Switzerland costs me at least another 9 dollars with registered mail.
I will be more careful next time, that is for sure. |

| Posted: | | | | Just FWIW though it (the unrated Cut with that UPC) is, indeed, a 2-Disc note that there is only one 'film' DVD. The second disc is (as advertised on the cover) the of the Blood Rayne 2 PC Game (which I think may be a CD, not a DVD as stated).
To me it is pretty obvious this seller bought the DVD purely for the game and is now selling on the DVD without the game included (it probably is the real cover; they varied a lot and the darkness in the scan is because of the reflective slipcase IIRC).
Personally I am quite confident this is what's happened since I remember at the time a lot of people were saying that packaging the game with the DVD was deliberately done to push up the DVD sales of a Uwe Boll film which otherwise wouldn't have sold that well, except the DVD+Game was cheaper than buying the game by itself. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | Hmm, what is really weird: the back image cover looks exactly like the single disc Canadian edition.
If the seller would have just taken the CD game out of the box, then the back cover would state disc 1 movie and disc 2 game (I compared the two disc back cover with mine, it has the UPC number of the 2 disc edition but there is no reference to the 2nd disc on the back of the dvd that I have received). Really strange. I did not know that they change the rear covers.
When I had my concerns I thought, well at least I can game the game if the movie is not that good. Bummer :-). No game included for me.
By the way: this seller sells a lot of 0.99 dollar DVDs on ebay, maybe bootlegs maybe ex-rentals, he also sells game cards (don't buy from that person). | | | Last edited: by Bartman |

I will be more careful next time, that is for sure. Well, if he advertised the title as 2-disc and it wasn't, then he is the one guilty of fraud, and you should make a very clear point of that to eBay/Paypal. I would rattle their cage to make sure your record stays clean for that reason. If sending the thing back is the only way to do that, I would do so, and just chalk it up to a learning experience. You're always going to run across jerks like that guy, so concentrate on keeping YOUR rep squeeky clean. | | | John
