| Posted: | | | | But, I wonder why if I have a title in my Wishlist I get the chance to vote on the Contribution?
I never do, I just wish there was a way the Database could distinguish between owned and "wished" for when asking for votes.

However, it's not completely useless. There is data from a profile that can get verified without actually having the disc in hand. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

| Posted: | | | | <scratching head>Mark, you have that option and i exercise it all the time. If you put up something that is on my wishlist and I look at it and don't have enough information mentally or computer stored to be able to be comfortable in vote, I don't. It's simple
Most of the data that is likely to be entered for anything entered from my wishlist, I will have enough confidence to vote, but if I don't, I won't.

| Posted: | | | | I've never seen the option to exclude titles from your wishlist from the voting screens. As far as I know the only options are to ignore them or vote neutral. If you know a way to not have them appear at all, please do share. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

| Posted: | | | | I don't think Skip has a way to have them not appear at all, rather I think he's using one of your two options: ignore the title or vote neutral. That's what I do, BTW. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. DVD Profiler user since June 15, 2001 |

That's what I do, BTW. I also do this for voting on stuff in my Wishlist that's (for example) a crew update which I can't verify - though I may PM if I see a previous update's Notes which say something like "Director's name mis-spelled in credits so, as per Rules, should be mis-spelled in profile" and somone is "correcting" it back... However, as Skip implies, I certainly will vote if changes are being made to SRP, Production year or DVD release date etc, which can only be verified from a third party anyway, or on cover scans where I can see if the new scan is an improvement, or on an overview which I can check with the rear cover image. I personally think it's all down to using common sense (on behalf of the votes and the screeners) rather than trying to reduce the number of people who can vote. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | On a side note: Please try to use a more meaningful thread description in the future. "Maybe I'ts just me..." could mean anything. When I clicked on the thread title I expected something like "I have a crush on Roseanne Barr" or a similar confession... | | | Michael |

| Posted: | | | | There are times when it is simple to vote on an item in a wish list, particularly if you are not in a region 1 country.
For instance, if somebody replaces the overview of a UK release with a Spanish overview, stating that they are entering the details for the Spanish release, then anybody should be able to help the person making the contribution realise that actually they forgot to change the locality before re-submitting the profile.
I realise that this is unlikely to happen in Region 1, but I have seen several UK profiles where this has happened.
I (personally) believe that in a situation like this, it is better to vote NO (even though I can't physically pick up the disc) and politly inform the user that they have used the wrong locality, then to do nothing.
My basic rule is if I can't verify it myself. Vote Neutral.
After all, isn't that what the neutral vote is for? |

A title like 'Why do we vote on titles we don't have yet?" just seemed too boring for a Wednesday.. & I was wondering if it was just me. Bobb | | | Do Cheshire Cats drink evaporated milk? |

| Posted: | | | | For me... when it comes to voting on Wishlist or ordered profiles..
If it is something that is obvious.. like something that is clearly against the rules or clearly wrong going by the cover image (i.e. Title of a boxset) then I feel free to vote.
If it is something that would need verification from the disc... then I just go with neutral.
So with that in mind... I am glad to have the ability to vote on wishlist or ordered profiles. | | | Pete |
