| Posted: | | | | Thanks, Pete. Do these rules also apply if main feature and bonus feature are on the same side of a disc? (coz then it might not always be possible to create a child profile for the bonus feature, i.e. if the main feature already had to be profiled by Disc ID). Moreover, what's with bonus shorts? I have a couple of Laurel & Hardy discs in my collection that have a main feature film and/or a couple of shorts as "Main Feature" and then another short as a bonus. Should these get a child profile for the latter as well? |

There's currently no way of creating an online child profiles for movies that are on the same side of the disc. However, there's nothing to stop you from creating as many manual child profiles as you want for these kind of discs. That way the films would come up when you did a title search. |

| Posted: | | | | as far as the tax and shipping goes. those that are in favor of it may like to see my feature request from back in march and voice their support/opinions there also, as far as the comments with downloading child profiles automatically. While I would also love to see this, as mentioned a few times, it would need to be an option, something such as a message saying this profile is a box set and has child profiles. would you like to download them? Reason being not everyone uses them. and for having changes to the parent automatically propogate down, there are problems with this (could maybe be worked out as simply as a prompt as well). Some problems are a) not everyone puts a purchase price on childs (most people don't i think, it would throw off your purchase costs statistics) b) some box sets people may not buy on the same date (LOTR trilogy that had the box offer to those that bought them individually as they were released) c) a lot of the info is/can be different between box parent and child -Agrare |

As for myself, the purchase date and place may be the only thing I'd like to propagate down, and possibly the cover art, in some cases. --------------- |

Basicaly I would like the option to save it in better quality, pref. PNG-24 and Localy preview of scans for submission, after resizing, for quality check. And with that the ability to then downsize the covers yourself for better quality of the submission.
Have started thread about it here I agree with this and also like to see this. | | | |

| Posted: | | | | Ken,
If you are considering to increase the maximum size of some strings in the database (dividers are definitely too short), I would like to make a plea for the "First Name" field. Since the rules prescribe to enter entries other than single natural persons in this one field, this sometimes leads to problems. Just try "The Band of the Welch Fusiliers"...
I think the Middle and Last Name fields don't have such problems, and also the Role field appears to give plenty of room already. At least, so far I encountered no problems, and I have entered long lists of cast for TV series in particular.

| Posted: | | | | I'd like to see some new checkboxes for 'hard features' of an edition (maybe not necessarily in the Features Section)... e.g. booklet, artbook, poster, sticker, soundtrack-cd... |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe this is a bit too far but maybe the region encoding could also be specified by disc. E.g.: Many 2Disc edition have region 2 for the film and region 2,4 and 5 for the Bonus Disc | | | |

| Posted: | | | | I'm not sure if this has been suggested already or not, but it would be a nice addition, with regard to the cover scans, if we could have more than one set of scans (front- and back cover) for each UPC or Disc ID in the online database. This way we would be able to download, with profile, also the correct scans to match our own DVDs - even if they are not from the first release or otherwise "equal" release where another cover made its way to the online database quicker.
I have made a couple of cover scan contributions lately, both of which garnered several negative votes due to them being of a later release - which I of course wasn't aware of, otherwise I wouldn't have contributed them at all, and after the votes I simply withdrew my contributions.
I think this could be used so that whenever you are downloading a profile with images from Invelos, it would present the covers, that are included with that UPC in the online database, for you to choose to match the release in your collection. | | | Mika I hate people who love me, and they hate me. | Posted: | | | | I would like that as well... especially since I have several DVDs with re-release covers and I do not have a scanner to do my own scans so I have to either be lucky enough to find the right ones online or deal with the wrong coverart for my release. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I'll third the suggestion. One thing which bugs me is that since I try to have the image in my local collection match the cover of the version I own (instead of the original one) I am always getting dinged during routine updates that my covers don't match what's in the main database. It's a small nuisance, but a nuisance none the less, to have to preview the "difference" only to find it's the same image I didn't want in the first place.
Maybe there could be some site where the alternate covers could be housed and downloaded if a user wanted them? | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. DVD Profiler user since June 15, 2001 |

1 Credit Lookup: a request for fuzzy logic here, offering search options of 'exact match' and 'close match'.
Why? Because although a brilliant tool and a great step to full database access, this kind of result can and does happen: "Stephane Audran" is credited in the following 32 titles (39 profiles) "Stéphane Audran" is credited in the following 114 titles (172 profiles) (- and maybe "Stephan Audrane" is also lurking somewhere...)
I second this, not only for credit look up, but also for titles, studios, etc. Since we are such sticklers for details around here, we need something like this to catch all the variations in names due to variabilities in accent characters, romanization, etc. | | | My Home Theater |
