| Posted: | | | | Quoting Sebastien: Quote: I'm certainly not complaining about your great effort. You saved me a lot of time and you can add all the BY you want in your database. The point is, the undocumented and accepted BY amount is so huge (in the main database), I'm asking myself if the process is still worth the effort. No offence taken... I just wanted to clarify that I knew about the unneccessary birthyears and warned people which were interested in my headshot database. Maybe I find some time to clean them up this weekend, but I myself prefer contributing new headshots instead of deleting birthyears. And since last week I started to keep track of all my newly added headshots so that I can offer people small database files only containing new added/improved headshots without birthyears. (see headshot-thread) The real problem is that we don't have the possibility of deleting unneccessary birthyears from the online database. Way too many slipped through by contributions before the rules for birthyears were clear. Unfortunately Ken gives DVD Profiler new functions before clarifying the rules for them (see the distributor/media company disaster). While I obey the rules for only contributing neccessary bithyears I think it would be a better solution to allow birthyears for every actor, as long as is documented. Sure, not for every actor it is known, but it would save this trouble of dividing neccessary/unneccessary birthyears and is IMHO a valuable information. (Yes I know, it's "DVD Profiler", not "Actor Profiler"... ) | | | Last edited: by SpaceFreakMicha |

Thanks for the info Giga. I didn't see this post before I emailed the folk singer Robin Williams at his official website. He confirmed the year noted above: Quote: James, 1947 is the year which is a few years before the "famous" Robin Williams. Luckily, I've escaped heart trouble.
Robin Williams I thought I'd post it here in case that other link goes dead or something. | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | David Arnold (David A. Arnold)???? David Arnold 1962
Added BY to David Arnold to differ him from sound department David Arnold.(sound department David Arnold): http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0036407/ He's listed here as David A. Arnold, but in Gone in 60 seconds and Enemy of the State, he's credited just as David Arnold, so therefore I'm providing BY for the composer.

Use of a birth year is, per the rules, only allowed if it's really necessary. If the "sound department David Arnold" is mostly credited as "David A. Arnold", then it doesn't matter that he's listed as "David Arnold" in 'Gone in 60 Seconds' and 'Enemy of the State'. That in itself doesn't warrant a birth year for the other David Arnold - it might just as well mean that those 'Gone in 60 Seconds' and 'Enemy of the State' all need the addition of the proper common name. Only if sound guy David A. Arnold is actually mostly credited as "David Arnold" too, then we're going to need birth years. FYI: I haven't checked up on this any further yet - I'm just saying that the fact that he's credited as "David Arnold" in two films is, in itself, not enough reason to start adding birth years to the other David Arnold. There may well be a dozen "David A. Arnold" credits against those two you mentioned... So we need a little bit more to be sure. | | | Last edited: by T!M |
