AESP_pres,

Thanks you! I was thinking along the same lines, but you have illustrated it perfectly.
This is so much better than trying to introduce new imaginary ratings.

The main problem I see with that are that we may want to enter ratings that don't correspond to anything the MPAA has and I think imaginary version of real ratings are more confusing that just putting an age there.

This is what I was trying to explain in the second thread about this, but it wasn't probably the good place (as Ken mentionned to me a couple of time). The way I see this system is an easy way for each users to set what is really the rating of a NR or unrated dvd for him personally (wich is surely not the same for everyone that's why I can't see it as a submitable field). So you can set by exemple a NR film like Dora the Explorer (??) as PG and Texas Chainsaw Massacre : Unrated Edition as a R or even NC-17 (depending of your personal defenition).

The others possibilities that I was unable to explain is that the personal rating could be used also for sorting the movie (if you rated an Unrated film as a R it will place himself with your others R and the same with the different assign rating. The system could be also works with the movie picks fonction effectivelly since now the film is rated with an official rating.

Of course I've no idea if that would be hard to code since I know nothing about that and I'm sure that Ken and many of you can find many others utilities that I haven't think of.

I think I've explain it better here but the idea is there and like any ideas it could be ameliorate.

edit : Ace, I've listed the official rating because it sounds less confusing to me and work better for the ranking and the movie pick.

If I have anime that says suggested 15 and up, I would like to be able to enter that instead of trying to figure out if that's closer to R or PG-13.

No problem Ace, it was made before you start this thread. This is why it used the MPAA rating. For me it doesn't made that much of a difference if the official rating or an age range is used. It's just a general idea that I had that can be improved of course

Of course it could be problematic for the movie pic, but maybe it isn't as complicated as I think to make an age range comparable to a rating...
