I agree with one question. I don't know this for certain, but as far as I know the CC system does not extend beyond English, I have never seen it in any foreign language in over 25 years. If it is available outside of English then yes that would be valuable. At the same time we have an awful lot of users who simply do not understand CC, and will check SDH as CC or CC as a Subtitle.

Skip I started to say, "I have discs with CCs in French and Spanish," but let me check on that to be sure. | | | Last edited: by CalebAndCo |

No, I'm not sure about that, and a quick web search for Spanish came up with only a couple of special interest disc that say they have Spanish CCs. I know the broadcast CC system supports Spanish and French. Nonetheless, the data about English CCs is still valuable for people who would use them. If they are English only, that makes it even simpler (for the user, once it's programmed): if the user selects CC, the language changes to English and grays out. |

| Posted: | | | | It seems that non-English CCs are few and far between: the only ones I could find reference of were obscure, educational DVDs. However, if the subtitle system is to be redone, it would be a simple matter to include CCs there as well, providing "one stop shopping" for folks looking for subtitles/captions. |

| Posted: | | | | I'd like to bring this topic up again as I Have quite a few HDD (& blu ray) videos that contain SDH and I find the 'close captioning for these discs do not actually contain CC (as other regular DVD's do) and therefore are not marked as such ., yet the HDD/Blu Ray Discs have subtitles for i.e. English / English SDH/ French / Spanish . High definition disc media (HD DVD, Blu-ray disc) uses SDH subtitles as the sole method because technical specifications do not require HD to support line 21 closed captions. Some blu-ray discs, however, are said to carry a closed caption stream that only displays through standard definition connections. Many HDTVs allow the end–user to customize the captions, including the ability to remove the black band. If you run both regular English subtitles and then re run the same scene with SDH you find that laughing , names of background music scores/ door slamming/ giggling / etc etc .. are there in text for you to read and understand.. ( I'm not Deaf.. but do enjoy these ambient sounds through this method ) Therefore SDH is an important 'add on' and with most users today that depend on CC to follow the dialogue along this is an important aspect to DVD Ownership and its features . I feel this is MUST FEATURE and should be incorporated soon into either 3.6 Invelos or the next upgrade or release .. Please ... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.
