This sounds a lot like what others have discussed about the limitations in the program when it comes to names and linking them.

I knew it was discuss before

For all the why "local only" comments this is my reasoning. We all know how thing works arround here and doing it for the online database would be the openning of a can of worms. This would bring only round and round discussions where nothing would be resolved and pretty much pissed of everyone, common we see argument around a big bunch of nothing often in the contribution sub-forum. So the off-line way is the best way to resolve the linking problem in a personal level (it would be even possible to finally link the acting and crew job that way).

Is it a perfect solution? certainly not
Is the best solution to implement without endless "raving"? It certainly is
Do I think it will happen? No

You could use the tags as well, they are not contributable and are searchable and hjerarchial.

How can you separate one John Doe from another with Tags

But why should it be non-contributable and local only. That just doesn't make sense. That sends users off doing their own thing instead of being able to data share. Sounds to Mr like it weakens the whole system.

I agree. I love the idea of assigning a unique ID to each actor and crew member. That would eliminate a lot of pingponging (changing CLT results for one).
However, to make it effective, it would need to be online contributable otherwise everyone assigns numbers locally and we're not better of than now, I believe.

How on earth you could separate two John Does in a same film using tags? If it's very easy, please explain.

Any plans for a Android version ?  if so, any timeframe mentioned ?

Couldn't see anything in the first post, which was last updated in 2010.

It's quite unlikely that Invelos will ever release an official Android version.

But a user developed quite a good alternative. You might want to check it out.

It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

That really is a great shame. I've been a registered DVD Profiler user for years, and would've loved to have got it for my Galaxy Tab.

Ignoring the non-apple side of the market is a mistake if you ask me.

Thanks for the link.

I'm rather shocked that this was in yesterday's announcement, yet I've not heard a thing about it in the forums!

Someone made an announcement?

Most people who clicked the announcement link probably read down to the download image... or just saw and clicked the image without reading anything else.

I read that line but didn't even comprehend what was there past thinking, "it isn't of any use to me."
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

He who MUST get the last word in on a pointless, endless argument doesn't win. It makes him the bigger jerk.

HAHAHAHA hilarious! Mark everyone missed it... 50 pages in various posts complaining about this android app and speculating that it's not coming... and I remember telling people... just wait. Ken only does stuff once a year, but when he does, he goes big... then he just slips that in and they all missed it... too funny.

it's of no use to me as I am an iOS guy myself... but im glad that everyone will have support for modern devices.

Yeah, I'm an iOS guy too!

Still, with all the uproar about people wanting an Android version, I had to chuckle that no one noticed that!

I did. I just didn't care since I own neither iOS nor Android. I have a good ol' PDA with stick and as long as that works and DVDPM runs on it, I'm happy.
