In fact, I would likely have to ban myself. I've been to other boards that have a hidden, opt-in forum where they banish inflamatory posts to. Posters who really just want to argue can stay in there, seperated out from the rest of the board. Sometimes users are allowed to get only into that forum if they've caused enough uproar on the rest of the board.
I know that would take up a lot more of the moderators' time, but it is another option to keeping the forums clean.

I use a keyboard decibel system. If my wife can hear me typing in the other room I usually don't submit the post.
Doesn't work for me, I'm single so no one to hear my typing strenght |

Careful, you're commenting on moderation there....you may have to take a time out for that! I really don't care (but I know you know that ). It is amazing what passes as acceptable yet a post requesting others to "keep it about the topic and not the individual" gets moderated. |

a post requesting others to "keep it about the topic and not the individual" gets moderated. I think I found the post you're referring to. It quoted another moderated topic, and made a comment on the quote. If you feel a post requires a moderator look, please use the red arrow to report it. All I have to say is... wow. Just.... wow. Problem is, if we never saw the pre-moderated post(s) nobody else can learn from it. One particular user has had 7 moderated posts again today, and is still happily posting. From that vantage point, I would say Invelos has changed nothing. | | | The Other DVD Forum Why do people who know the least know it the loudest? |

Since I hadn't red flagged the original I had no reason to believe it would be moderated. However, it doesn't bother me that you've removed it all; it had no bearing on the topic. --------------- |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for the reply but don't worry about it Ken. You have publicly stated it is not a requirement to be polite. As I said the recent round of moderated posts shows exactly what is acceptable behavior in your mind. Unfortunately with a stance like that those who feed on bullying others feel they have permission to continue their ways. I see the trend continues in that same thread even as I type this. I just don't agree with you as to what is socially acceptable and what isn't. But it's not my company.
I know you truly want what is best for Invelos, unfortunately some of your actions show many of us that this forum is here only for when you need us to help you test things. Very little is done to make this place feel welcoming to the members whether they are old timers or new people. I really think your are hurting yourself with the new people...
Even all the work James did dragging all those polls into the new rules thread went completely un-noticed by you. I base that on the fact that nothing was actually carried into the revised rules and no questions were asked from you regarding them. At least not as of this writing. A simple "I'm not really looking to update them that much at this time" would have worked.
I look forward to the final release of the next version but my time in the forum will be very limited. Nothing so grand as an "I'm done" but if and when I do pop in I will just lurk. It's a shame too since I really do enjoy the hobby and the software and have made some real friends here. |
